Testing a Workflow Path

Overview: Before testing a workflow path in Odyssey 2, you need to fill out the order form in the pop-up modal. This form allows you to specify the details of the test order, including quantity, size, and color choices, and perhaps any other details from the order form that are tied to the workflow path.

Components of the Pop-Up Modal

Instruction Box

  • Note: A note at the top of the modal explaining that only the order form answers selected as valid for this workflow path are available for testing. You can change this by editing the ‘Select order form conditions’ screen.

Order Form Fields

  • Quantity: A text input field to enter the quantity of items for the test.
  • Choose a Size: Radio buttons to select the size of the product.
  • Color Choices: Radio buttons to select the color options for the product.

Action Button

  • Test: A green button to submit the form and proceed with testing the workflow path.

 

Steps to Fill Out the Order Form

Enter the Quantity

  • Click in the text input field labeled "Quantity."
  • Enter the desired quantity of items for the test.

Select the Size

  • Under the "Choose a Size" section, review the available size options.
  • Click on the radio button next to the desired size (e.g., 8.5 in x 11 in).

Select the Color Choice

  • Under the "Color Choices" section, review the available color options.
  • Click on the radio button next to the desired color option (e.g., Full-Color Front - Full-Color Back).

Remaining Questions

  • Continue selecting/entering a value for any remaining questions

Submit the Form

  • Once all the fields are filled out, click on the green "Test" button at the bottom right corner of the modal.
  • The form will be submitted, and the workflow path test will be based on the specified details.

 

Additional Tips

  • Ensure the quantity, size, and color choices match the typical order details to get accurate test results.
  • Double-check all entries before submitting the form to avoid errors during the testing process.
  • If the available options do not match your requirements, you may need to edit the conditions of the workflow path to include additional valid answers.

Overview: This screen displays a workflow path in Test Mode in Odyssey 2.0. Here, you can review the processes, verify the calculations, and test the workflow path for the the product.

 

Components of the Screen

Workflow Path Test Summary

  • Quantity: Displays the quantity of items for the test (e.g., 500).
  • Cost Summary:
    • Production Cost: Shows the total cost to produce the quantity entered (e.g., $125.22).
    • Added Costs: Displays any additional costs
    • Total Cost: The sum of production and added costs (e.g., $125.22).
  • Selling Price Summary:
    • Profit: Displays the profit percentage (e.g., 25%).
    • Before Markups: The price before adding any markups (e.g., $156.53).
    • Added Markups: Shows the total amount of added markups (e.g., $39.13).
    • Selling Price: The final selling price including markups (e.g., $195.66).
  • Per Piece Summary:
    • Cost Per Piece: The cost to produce each item (e.g., $0.25).
    • Price Per Piece: The selling price of each item (e.g., $0.39).

Workflow Path Information

  • Product: Displays the product name.
  • Workflow Path: Shows the name of the workflow path (e.g., "Digital w/ Imposition").
  • Printing Technology: Displays the selected printing technology (e.g., "Digital").
  • Order Form: Indicates the associated order form (e.g., "Flyers for MI4P Demo").
  • Product Information: Displays the total weight of the product (e.g., 10.03 lbs).
  • Workflow Status: A toggle to set the workflow status to Active or Inactive.

Paper Information

  • Paper: Displays the paper type used (e.g., Default 100# Matte Text).
  • Parent Size: Shows the parent size (e.g., 19 in x 25 in).
  • Run Size: Shows the run size (e.g., 12 in x 18 in).
  • Trimmed Size: Displays the trimmed size (e.g., 8.5 in x 11 in).
  • Finish Size: Shows the finish size (e.g., 8.5 in x 5.5 in).
  • Review Paper Sizes: An orange button to review and change paper sizes.

Process List

  • Change View: A button to change the view of the processes- either to a list or grid view.
  • Processes: Lists the processes included in the workflow path, including details such as:
    • Process Name: e.g., Cut Parent to Run Size, Imposition, Digital Printing w/ File, etc.
    • Result: Shows the result of the process.
    • Requirements: Lists the requirements for each process.
    • Time and Cost: Displays the time taken and the cost for each process.

  • Test Your Workflow: This orange button allows you to change existing testing parameters such as the quantity or the size to retest the workflow path.

 

Steps to Review and Test the Workflow Path

Review Workflow Summary

  • Check the quantity, production cost, added costs, total cost, profit, selling price, and per piece summaries to ensure they are accurate.

Review Paper Information

  • Verify the paper type, parent size, run size, trimmed size, and finish size.
  • Click the "Review paper sizes" button if changes are needed.

Review and Configure Processes

  • Ensure all necessary processes are included in the workflow path.
  • Click the edit button (pencil icon) next to each process to review or modify its settings.
  • Use the delete button (trash bin icon) to remove any unnecessary processes.
  • Drag and drop the reorder handles to arrange the processes in the correct sequence.
  • Click the calculation button (calculator icon) to configure the necessary calculations for each process.

Verify Requirements and Results

  • Review the requirements and results for each process to ensure they meet your production needs.

Finalize the Workflow Path

  • After testing, make any necessary adjustments based on the test results.
  • Ensure all details are correct and the workflow path is active for production use.

Additional Tips

  • Double-check all configurations to ensure there are no discrepancies that could affect production.
  • Keep the workflow path status updated to reflect its availability for new jobs or estimates.
  • Regularly review and update the workflow path as needed to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
