We recommend the following procedures for successfully transitioning your e-mail service. These procedures will help prevent losing any e-mail during the transition. Please keep in mind that e-mail sent to you will end up at one of two locations while the transition is taking place. Messages will either end up on the mail server provided by your current e-mail provider, or the mail server provided by MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com. The destination depends on the update schedule of the e-mail sender's Internet Service Provider. If the ISP has not updated their records, the message will go to the current e-mail provider's mail server. If the ISP has made the update, then the message will go to the MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com mail server. This means that you'll want to have a way to access both mail servers during the transition. Accessing the current e-mail provider's mail server Your existing e-mail account is already pointing to the current e-mail provider's e-mail server. The incoming (POP) mail server will be something like pop.myprovider.com or mail.yourdomain.com. Remember that your domain will be in transition, so if the name of the incoming (POP) mail server includes your domain name in the address you'll need to contact your current e-mail provider for an alternate incoming (POP) mail server address that doesn't include the name of your domain. Alternatively, your current e-mail provider may be able to provide you with a webmail interface to their mail server. Again, if your current e-mail provider can provide you with a webmail interface, make sure they give you an address which doesn't refer to your domain name, because your domain name will be in transition. Accessing the MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com mail server, method 1 As the transition to MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com is occurring, you'll find that mail will start to arrive at the MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com mail server. One way to check your messages is through the webmail interface. You can access that by going to mail.mi4p.com and logging in with your e-mail address and password. The webmail interface allows you to send and receive e-mail, and several of our customers find it's all they need. Eventually, you'll notice that you're no longer receiving e-mail messages through the account set up to check your current e-mail provider's mail server. At that point, you can set up your e-mail software to check the MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com mail server. Click here for more details on setting up your e-mail account. Accessing the MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com mail server, method 2 If you'd rather not use the webmail interface, you can set up an additional e-mail account in your e-mail software to check the MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com mail server. (You'll want to keep the account that checks the current e-mail provider's mail server in place for the moment.) When you create a new account, your e-mail software will ask you for your account information. Our part of the information requested is provided below...
Incoming (POP) mail server settings Account type: POP3 Incoming (POP) mail server: secure.emailsrvr.com Username: your full e-mail address (for example, Name@YourDomain.com) Password: provided by MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com Outgoing e-mail (SMTP) settings Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: secure.emailsrvr.com You may also use smtp.emailsrvr.com for your outgoing mail server. You'll also need to use the same username and password information that are used for the incoming mail server. Note that some Internet Service Providers do not allow the use of external SMTP mail servers (such as smtp.emailsrvr.com). Please verify that your ISP allows the use of external SMTP mail servers before you use this option.
Completing the Transition As each Internet Service Provider updates their information, you'll eventually find that you no longer receive mail through your original e-mail provider. This process is typically completed within 24 hours, and it rarely takes longer than 72 hours. When you notice you're no longer receiving mail from your current e-mail provider's mail server, you may then remove the e-mail account that had been checking the current e-mail provider's mail server. If you were accessing e-mail from the MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com mail servers using method 1 above, you may want to establish an account in your e-mail software (but the webmail interface is always available as well, whether you set up an account in your email software or not). Click here for details on establishing your e-mail account. If you were accessing the MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com mail server using method 2 above, no further changes beyond removing the current e-mail provider's account are necessary. However, we recommend you change your mail server settings from mail.MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com to mail.yourdomain.com (substitute your website's domain name here). Click here for more details.
