Beginning the Domain Transfer Process To start the domain transfer process, we'll need to obtain your registrar account login information. What Happens During a Domain Name Transfer The process of moving your domain name from one host to another may seem a bit mysterious, so we'll try to help you understand what happens during this process. We will ask you for your registrar account login information to begin the domain transfer process. Here's a simplified version of what happens during the domain transfer process. First, we'll login to your registrar account and change the Domain Name Server information. The Domain Name Servers act as a digital traffic cop of sorts, telling every Internet Service Provider in the world where to find a particular website. After the Domain Name Server information has been updated at the registrar, each Internet Service Provider will obtain that new information from the registrar. Each Internet Service Provider will update this information on their own schedule. Sometimes this information updates instantly, and often times it will take a little while for the new information to "settle in" ... rarely longer than 24 hours. Because each Internet Service Provider updates based on their own schedule, it's entirely possible that your customers may see your new website on the Internet before you do...!
