Throughout your MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com 30-day Live Trial period, your domain name (website address) has remained under the control of your previous host. Your website went live with MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com because your previous host redirected web requests to our web servers. Your e-mail accounts associated with this domain are currently being handled by your previous host, as well. Now that you've completed the 30-day live trial period, we need you to make one important decision — and take the accompanying steps — to ensure the completion of a seamless transition to MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com.
Three Options to Choose
You have three basic options available to you to complete the transition to MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com. We consider the first one (transferring your domain to our administrative control) the best; however, you can feel free to select whichever you feel most comfortable choosing. As a side note, there are no added costs involved with any of the options you choose.
Option 1 (Best) — Transfer Your Domain to Our Administrative Control
Your first option is to bring your domain name and related e-mail services under our administrative control. We are then responsible for renewing your domain name whenever it expires and maintaining all of the services (web, DNS and e-mail) necessary for keeping your website up and running properly. (Don't worry...it's still your domain!) We consider this option the best because it involves the least amount of work and worry on your part. Basically, we maintain everything for you. As a result, you never have to worry about your website address expiring or pointing to the incorrect web server. Your e-mail will also integrate seamlessly with everything. I choose Option 1 — What's Next?Option 2 (Good) — Transfer DNS Control
With this option, you keep your domain (website address) at the existing domain name registrar and simply point your domain's name server entries to our DNS (Domain Name Server). (A Domain Name Server holds the information needed to ensure your website comes up when someone types your website address into their browser's address bar.) We take care of the DNS services, so you are assured a seamless transition. However, you will remain responsible for renewing your domain name when its registration expires. I choose Option 2 — What's Next?Option 3 (OK) — Have Your Current DNS Provider Point to Our Websites' Servers
Your final option is to keep the DNS pointing to your current website host just as it is now. In this scenario, your current website host will continue to point web requests for your website to our web servers. The e-mail services remain with your current website host. While this method works great to "kick the tires" during the 30-day Live Trial period, we don't recommend using this option for your permanent solution.
- For starters, you will remain responsible for renewing your domain name when it expires. If you fail to do so, it could (and likely would) get sold to another company.
- Secondly, if we need to make updates (as we sometimes do), your current website host will need to make those updates, too, in order to keep your site going. Failure to do so may result in service interruptions for you and your customers. No further actions are required for Option 3.
