- Add up to three custom tabs.

Before Getting Started
- To include pages in a custom tab’s dropdown, create the custom pages under Web Pages > Custom Pages first.

Built-in tabs vs. custom tabs
| Built-in tabs | Custom tabs | |
|---|---|---|
| Examples | Products, Services, Resources, Help Center, About Us, Contact Us | Any tab created |
| Created by | The platform | The printshop (or MI4P support, if one was added for the printshop in the past) |
| Tab reordering | Yes | Yes |
| Turn tab on/off | No | Yes |
| Delete tab | No | Yes |
| Maximum | Provided by the platform | Up to three per website* |
Custom tabs previously added by MI4P count towards the limit. Websites with more than three existing custom tabs retain those tabs, but another cannot be added until fewer than three remain.
Note: Help Center appears in the tab list only when this add-on is enabled for the website.
Change the Order of Navigation Tabs
- In the Control Center, go to Web Pages > Navigation Tabs.
- Click Tab Order.
- Drag the tabs into the preferred order. Built-in tabs can be moved, and custom tabs can be placed between built-in tabs or next to each other.
- Click Save to apply the changes, or Cancel to ddelete them.
The Tab Order page lists the tabs and includes their type, on/off status, and an Edit link.

Additional Tab Order Details
- Tabs that are turned off remain in the list, appear grayed out, and are marked (switched off). Their positions are preserved for when they are turned back on.

Above: Example of a turned ‘off’ tab
- The saved order applies throughout the website, including mobile navigation and when visitors are signed in.
- Saving the tab order preserves the current tab names and order. Future changes to the platform’s defaults will not apply automatically to those tabs.
- Using Revert on a built-in tab restores its content but keeps its saved position.

- Opening a tab’s edit page without saving does not change the tab order.
Add a Custom Tab
1. Go to Web Pages > Navigation Tabs > Tab Order.
2. Click Add Custom Tab at the bottom of the page.

3. Enter a Tab Label.
4. Set the tab to On or Off.
5. Set up the tab as either:
- A dropdown: Leave Link Target blank and select the custom pages to include.
- A single link: Enter a Link Target and leave all custom pages unselected.

-
The new tab is added at the end of the navigation.
7. Return to Tab Order to change its position.

Custom Tab Limit

Custom Tab Settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Tab Label | The name visitors see in the navigation. Renaming a tab does not change its position or selected pages. |
| Turn Tab On/Off | Shows or hides the tab. Turning it off preserves its settings, selected pages, and position. |
| Link Target | The destination for a single-link tab. Leave this blank when creating a dropdown of custom pages. |
| Open in a new tab | Opens the Link Target in a new browser tab. This option is unavailable for supported pop-up links that begin with #. |
| Page checklist | Selects the custom pages included in a dropdown and allows their order to be changed. |
- Select Save in the upper-right after making changes.
Note: A warning appears if the Tab Label matches a built-in tab’s name. Saving is still allowed, but visitors may see two tabs with the same name.
Dropdown or Single Link
The tab’s configuration determines how it works:
- Dropdown: Leave Link Target blank and select one or more custom pages.

Above: Example of a drop-down custom tab
- Single link: Enter a Link Target and leave all custom pages unselected.

Above: Example of a custom tab without a drop-down
- Both entered: The tab displays the selected pages as a dropdown and ignores the Link Target.

Above: Both the ‘Link Target’ and custom page selected, which will act as a drop-down
- Neither entered: The tab does not appear on the website.
Choose and Arrange Dropdown Pages
- Open the custom tab.
- Select the custom pages to include.
- Drag the selected pages into the preferred order.
- Click Save.

Above: Example of two custom pages selected to be used for the custom tab
Additional details:
- Custom pages in light gray (page is switched off) do not appear to website visitors.

- The same custom page can appear under more than one tab.
- Dropdown links use the page’s Short Title, or its Full Title if no Short Title is entered.

Above: Example of a custom page's Full Title and Short Title
- A page’s Short Title can be edited directly in the checklist. Changing it updates the wording wherever that page’s Short Title is used.
- Two different pages with the same Short Title appear as separate links with identical wording.
Delete a Custom Tab
1. Open the custom tab under Web Pages > Navigation Tabs.
2. Click Delete next to Save.

3. Review the confirmation, which identifies the tab and the number of items it contains.

4. Confirm the deletion.
Additional Details:
- Deleting a custom tab removes the tab and its dropdown entries from the navigation. The custom pages linked under it are not deleted.
- Deleting a tab cannot be undone. A new custom tab can be created afterward, but it starts empty.
- Built-in tabs cannot be deleted.
Custom Tabs Previously Added by MI4P
Custom tabs previously added through MI4P support can now be managed using these settings.
These tabs count toward the three-tab limit. Websites with more than three existing custom tabs retain those tabs, but another cannot be added until fewer than three remain.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a website have more than three custom tabs?
Up to three custom tabs can be created per website. Websites that already had more than three retain their existing tabs, but another cannot be added until fewer than three remain.
Can a built-in tab be turned off or deleted?
Built-in tabs cannot be turned off or deleted through these settings. Their positions can be changed on the Tab Order page.
Why didn’t the tab order change on the website?
Click Save on the Tab Order page to apply changes. Clicking Cancel or leaving the page without saving discards the changes.
Why isn’t a custom tab showing?
Confirm that:
- The tab is turned On.
- It has either a Link Target or at least one selected custom page that is turned on.
A tab without a usable link or visible dropdown pages does not appear on the website.
Can the same page appear under multiple custom tabs?
Yes. Select the page in each applicable tab.
Can the same page have different link wording under different tabs?
Link wording comes from the page’s Short Title, or its Full Title if no Short Title is entered. Changing the Short Title affects every tab that uses it. Different wording requires a separate custom page.
Does deleting a tab delete its pages?
No. The custom pages remain available under Web Pages > Custom Pages.
Will this feature automatically change existing navigation?
No. Existing navigation stays the same until changes are saved.
