This article provides an overview of the uDesignIt section within the Document Library Editor (also available in the Order Form Editor). The uDesignIt section allows you to connect a Pageflex Studio project to an order form, enabling variable data printing and customer-personalized templates.


Overview

The uDesignIt section is used when setting up products that allow customers to customize content using variable data (such as business cards, postcards, or other personalized materials).

Through this section, you can:

  • Select an existing Pageflex Studio project
  • Upload a new Pageflex Studio project
  • Assign output jobs (JPEG proof, PDF proof, Production PDF)
  • Save and publish the customized order form

Selecting an Existing Pageflex Studio Project

  1. Open your document in the Document Library Editor or Order Form Editor.
  2. Navigate to the uDesignIt section.
  3. Locate the Project dropdown menu.
  4. Select a previously uploaded Pageflex Studio project from the list.

Once selected:

  • The system automatically populates dropdown menus for:
    • JPEG Proof
    • PDF Proof
    • Production PDF
  • These options reflect the available jobs within the selected project.

Uploading a New Pageflex Studio Project

If you need to use a new Pageflex Studio project:

  1. Click the purple “Browse” button.
  2. Select your project .zip file.
  3. Upload the file.

After the upload completes:

  • The project list refreshes automatically.
  • The newly uploaded project appears in the dropdown (often with the same project name if it replaces an existing version).
  • The associated job options (JPEG Proof, PDF Proof, Production PDF) reload accordingly.

Assigning Output Jobs

Once your project is selected or uploaded:

  1. Use the dropdown menus to assign:
    • The correct JPEG proof job
    • The correct PDF proof job
    • The correct Production PDF job
  2. Ensure each section is mapped to the appropriate job output.

This ensures the system generates the correct proofs and final production file when customers place orders.


Saving Your Configuration

After completing your setup:

  1. Click Save.
  2. The selected project and job mappings will be stored with the document.

Your order form is now configured for uDesignIt functionality.


Customer View Example

When a customer views a product configured with uDesignIt:

  • The product pulls directly from the connected Pageflex Studio project.
  • The selected template loads automatically.
  • All variable data fields entered by the customer populate in real time.
  • The preview reflects the exact information entered into the form fields.

For example, in a business card setup:

  • The customer enters their name, title, phone number, etc.
  • The information dynamically appears on the card preview.
  • The generated proof and production files use that submitted data.
