One of the most prominent features of your website is the slideshow that appears on the home page. We've created several slides to help you "hit the ground running". But if you wish to customize your website even further, you also have the ability to create your own slides, as well as turning off some or all of the pre-built ones.

How to Create Custom Sliders

  1. Select "Web Pages" from the Control Center's main menu
  2. Choose "Custom Sliders" from the Home Page sidebar menu
  3. Click the blue "Create a New Custom Slider" button
  4. Complete the form to build your new slider
    • Headline: This is the slider's headline. It will be at the top of the slide, and be the largest font size
    • Subhead: This will appear below the headline and have a smaller font size
    • Content: This is the main text of the slide. Try to keep it short and sweet, though — space is limited!
    • Image: Click the No Image box to access the image library, where you can upload an image to use or choose an existing one
    • Image Alt Text: If for some reason the image can't load, the Image Alt Text will appear in its place. Ask yourself, "What is this picture about?"...and then type it here.
    • Link Info: You can link to any other page on the internet through this custom slide. To link to one of your own pages, choose it from the pulldown menu in the first box. Otherwise, type the full web address (inlcuding the http://) in the second box
    • Link Text: Your link will appear as a button at the bottom of the slider. The link text sets the words that will appear on the button
  5. When finished, click the "Add Custom Slider" button at the bottom of the form.

Note: Your new slider is not available to your customers yet, just built. We'll cover how to activate it in the following section.

  6. You'll now see the list of custom slides, with "Preview", "Edit" and "Delete" buttons to the side of them
    • "Preview" will show you exactly how your new slide will appear on your website. It will open a new window/tab to do so. When you're done, just close that window/tab.
    • "Edit" allows you to make changes to your custom slider.
    • "Delete" will remove the slider from the system. Be careful, there is no "undo" available for this action!

How to Activate / Deactivate Sliders

When you first build your custom sliders, they will not automatically be available to the customer; you must first activate them. To activate or deactivate sliders, do the following:

  1. Select "Web Pages" from the Control Center's main menu
  2. Choose "Home Page Sliders" from the Home Page sidebar menu
  3. All of your site's slides will now be listed
    • Custom slides you've built will have "(custom)" displayed on the right side of the listing
    • The checkboxes to the left indicate the status of the slide
      • Checked = "Active", viewable by the customer
      • Not Checked = "Inactive", hidden from the customer
    • If you are unsure what any of the sliders are, click the preview button on the right. It will open in a new window, so you won't lose your place.
  4. Click the Save button in the upper-right corner of the page when you are finished
