Callout boxes are an excellent way to draw extra attention to pages both on or off your site. Our websites come with several pre-made options to direct users to pages throughout your website, but you also have the ability to create your own. This article will show you how.

How to Create Custom Callout Boxes

1. Select "Web Pages" from the Control Center's main menu
2. Choose "Custom Callout Boxes" from the Home Page sidebar menu
3. Click the blue "Create a New Custom Callout Box" button
4. Choose whether you wish to have an image-based or video-based callout box
5. Complete the form to build your new callout box (and check the live preview box at the top of the form to see how it will look)

   Image-Based

   • Image Placement: Choose the "small icon" option to make room for more content
   • Headline: This is the callout box's headline. It will be at the top of the callout box, and be the largest font size
   • Content: This is the main text of the callout box. Try to keep it short and sweet, though — space is limited!
   • Image: Click the No Image box to access the image library, where you can upload an image to use or choose an existing one
   • Image Alt Text: If for some reason the image can't load, the Image Alt Text will appear in its place. Ask yourself, "What is this picture about?"...and then type it here.
   • Link Info: You can link to any other page on the internet through this custom callout box. To link to one of your own pages, choose it from the pulldown menu in the first box. Otherwise, type the full web address (inlcuding the http://) in the second box
   • Link Text: Your link will appear as a button at the bottom of the callout box. The link text sets the words that will appear on the button

   Video-Based

   • Headline: This is the callout box's headline. It will be at the top of the callout box, and be the largest font size
   • Content: This is the main text of the callout box. Try to keep it short and sweet, though — space is limited!
   • Video Source: Your video needs to be hosted on another site, and then linked to from your callout box (but the video will play on your website). As of the time of this writing, YouTube and Vimeo are supported. Choosing one of those options from the pulldown list provides instructions for getting the link for those services.
   • Video ID or Web Address: Use the instructions in this section to locate the link to your video, and type (or cut-and-paste) it into the box at the bottom of the form.
6. When finished, click the "Add Custom Callout Box" button at the bottom of the form (for video-based callout boxes, click "Update" at the bottom of the form).

   Note: Your new callout box is not available to your customers yet, just built. We'll cover how to activate it in the following section.

7. You'll now see the list of custom callout boxes with "Edit" and "Delete" buttons to the side of them
   • "Edit" allows you to make changes to your custom callout box.
   • "Delete" will remove the callout box from the system. Be careful, there is no "undo" available for this action!

How to Activate / Deactivate Custom Callout Boxes

When you first build your custom callout boxes, they will not automatically be available to the customer; you must first activate them. To activate or deactivate callout boxes, do the following:

1. Select "Web Pages" from the Control Center's main menu
2. Choose "Home Page Callout Boxes" from the Home Page sidebar menu
3. All of your site's callout boxes will now be listed
   • Custom callout boxes you've built will have "(custom)" displayed on the right side of the listing
   • The checkboxes to the left indicate the status of the callout box
     • Checked = "Active", viewable by the customer
     • Not Checked = "Inactive", hidden from the customer
   • Use the double-headed arrow on the right to adjust the order in which your callout boxes are displayed
4. Click the Save button in the upper-right corner of the page when you are finished
