The MarketingIdeasForPrinters.com E-Commerce Suite includes an easy-to-use Instant Sales Tax Calculator which allows you to collect the appropriate sales tax for each online purchase, based on the address and zip code of the location in which the product will exchange hands. Here's how to use the Instant Sales Tax Calculator.
  • In your website's Control Center, go to My Website > E-Commerce Settings > Tax Calculations.
  • Click to select the states, provinces, and/or territories in which you are required to collect sales tax.
  • Click the Save button to save your changes.
That's it! You're done! The system will automatically start calculating the correct tax for the selections made on the Tax Calculations tab.

Here are a few more details you'll want to be aware of:
  • Deselecting any state, province, or territory in the list will deactivate the original tax calculation method.
  • Any customer listed as tax-exempt (0%) will continue to be tax-exempt in the Instant Sales Tax Calculator.
  • The correct sales tax rate will be calculated based on the address and zip code of the location in which the customer takes possession of the purchase. The calculation will take into account all state and local taxes, and will apply the correct taxes to the shipping amount, based on the rules governing the address used.
  • Sales tax is calculated based on the shipping address. The only time sales tax is calculated based on the print shop's address is for pickup orders or orders where there is no shipping address provided.
  • Charging sales tax for out-of-state print buyers varies from state to state and is the responsibility of the print shop to determine whether they should be charging sales tax in a certain state or not.
