What is DesignEdit?
Editable, Pre-Designed Templates
DesignEdit is an online design tool available on websites from Marketing Ideas For Printers. It offers your prospects and customers the ability to create ready-to-print online design projects starting with either a blank canvas or from one of our many pre-built templates. From changing colors to cropping images, your website visitors will be able to quickly produce a design worth printing, with no involvement from you!
DesignEdit gives your customers access to a giant library of ready-made, themed templates to cover virtually any need. Business cards for plumbers? Check. Baby announcements? They're there. Postcards for accountants? Yep.
Once your customers find a template they like, they are also able to customize them any way they like. They can change the wording to suit their needs, move it around, change its styles. And they can upload their own images if they wish, or choose from a massive library of professional-quality images online.
Some of the most creative uses of DesignEdit involve using a template created for a different industry and updating it to fit your (or your customer's) own industry!
Pay-As-You-Go System
Customers can search for templates and edit them as much as they wish. There is no charge until they finally submit a completed document, and are billed according to the e-commerce rules you've established in your website.
How To Assign Template Pricing
About Template Pricing
We do not charge for the use of individual DesignEdit templates. However, you may add a template fee for your customers to offset your DesignEdit startup and monthly charges.
Adjusting Template Pricing
You can adjust the template price by assigning a template fee, which is an across-the-board fee for all DesignEdit templates being used. Note, this does not markup or discount the pricing you've already set up for the product. This setting applies only to the price of your DesignEdit templates being used.
- Choose "My Website" from the Control Center main menu
- Select "E-Commerce Settings" from the sidebar menu
- Choose "DesignEdit"
- Now set the Template Pricing as needed:
How Customers Order DesignEdit Products
Customers order DesignEdit products the same way they order "normal" products. From your website's home page or navigation, customers can choose the product category that interests them, like "Business Cards", "Door Hangers" or "Banners". If they choose a category that has a DesignEdit-enabled order form, they will be given the option to build a fully-customizable item (DesignEdit), and then taken to the DesignEdit interface as part of completing that order form.
Customers will perform the following tasks while working with the DesignEdit interface:
-
Choose a template: Your customers will first be presented with a visual catalog filled with templates for the product type they've selected. They are also given filter tools that will help them refine their search to find the right design for them. When they find a template they like, they simply click on it to continue.
-
Edit the template: Once they've chosen a template, your customers will be able to edit the content. The edit tools are intuitive and easy to use, offering many recognizable conventions like drag-handles to resize boxes, and font alignment/positioning buttons like you would find in a typical word processor.
Also, if there's an item that must be customized, the system will remind the customer prior to submitting the order.
How Customers Submit DesignEdit Orders
When the customer is finished editing their document, they'll then be presented with the order form that's associated with it. From that point on, the customer completes the order just as they would any other order form on your site.
Downloading DesignEdit Templates from submitted orders
DesignEdit files are accessed the same way as any other order with files attached: through the Files tab in their job detail view.
