Sometimes you need additional information from your customers that just doesn't fit right in an order form. With our custom shopping cart questions tool, you can ask your customers for that extra information as part of the checkout process. It uses tools very similar to the ones used to build customer order forms, but places the questions at the end of the checkout process. By default, all shopping carts come with the shopping cart question, "Additional Comments or Instructions."

Accessing The Shopping Cart Question Editor

  1. In the Control Center, select Accounts from the top menu

  3. Choose Shopping Cart Questions
  4. Choose Manage Shopping Cart Questions

Creating New Shopping Cart Questions

  1. Access the shopping cart question editor
  2. Choose Ask a New Question
  3. Complete the setup form:
    • Your Question: This is the question you wish to ask your customer.
    • Question Format: This is the type of input you'd like to receive from your customer, whether open-ended answers (Text Input and Multiline Text Input) or a set of selectable answers (Checkbox, Pulldown Menu, Radio Button)
    • Answers: This is for the answers you'd like your customer to choose from. Type each option on a single line.
    • Default Value (Text Input only): You can save your customers some time by typing the most common entry in here so that they don't have to. They'll have a chance to change it if they need to, though.
    • Instructional Text: With shopping cart questions, it's possible to also attach a help bubble if you need to provide further instruction to your customers.
  4. Click Save
  5. Use the cart preview to check for errors

Editing An Existing Shopping Cart Question

  1. Access the shopping cart question editor
  2. Select the Edit button to the right of the question you'd like to update
  3. The tools for editing are the same as for creating it.
  4. Click Save when finished
  5. Use the cart preview to check for errors

Removing A Shopping Cart Question

  1. Access the shopping cart question editor
  2. Select the Remove button to the right of the question you'd like to delete

Note: You'll get a chance to confirm that really want to remove it. After that, it's gone forever. It will still show up in previously placed orders that used it.

Making A Question Required

By default, all custom questions are optional. But if you'd like to require that your customers answer it before they can submit their order, do the following:

  1. Access the shopping cart question editor
  2. Select the Remove button to the right of the question you'd like to delete

Note: You'll get a chance to confirm that really want to remove it. After that, it's gone forever. It will still show up in previously placed orders that used it.

Rearranging The Questions

  1. Access the shopping cart question editor
  2. Click and hold on the double-arrow to the right of the question you'd like to reposition
  3. Drag the question up or down to its desired location, and let go
